WATCH: Matteo Berrettini pulls off Jannik Sinner’s famous celebration after securing third straight win for Italy en route to Davis Cup Finals QF

Matteo Berrettini remained undefeated during the group stages of the 2024 Davis Cup Finals after his third singles win. The Italian celebrated his perfect record in style by emulating the famous celebration of his compatriot, Jannik Sinner.

Berrettini headlined team Italy during the group stage of the 2024 Davis Cup Finals in Sinner's absence, who just won the US Open. Berrettini began his Davis Cup campaign with a 6-1, 7-6(5) win against Joao Fonseca of Brazil at Unipol Arena in Bologna on September 11.

He then registered a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 win against Alexander Blockx of Belgium on September 13 before showing similar resilience to defeat the Netherlands' Botic van de Zandschulp 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 on September 15. Italy won all three group-stage ties and secured a berth into the knockout stages.

After converting the matchpoint against van de Zandschulp, Berrettini busted out the famous Jannik Sinner celebration, standing still while embracing the moment as the crowd cheers on. Sinner was present at the Unipol Arena to support Italy as they took on the Netherlands on Sunday, September 15.

Here's the video of Berrettini's celebration:

While Sinner did not play for his nation during the group stages of the 2024 Davis Cup Finals, he was part of the Italian squad that emerged victorious at the 2023 Davis Cup. Sinner defeated Serbia's Novak Djokovic in the semifinals and Australia's Alex de Minaur en route to Italy's win.

Sinner became only the second Italian man to win a Grand Slam when he won the 2024 Australian Open title. He then emerged triumphant at the ATP 500 ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam, Masters 1000 Miami Open, ATP 500 Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, Masters 1000 Cincinnati Open, and the 2024 US Open. The 23-year-old has qualified for the ATP Finals for the third time in his career.

Meanwhile, Matteo Berrettini has regained his form on the 2024 ATP Tour after various injury struggles over the last two years. The former World No. 6 has picked up three ATP 250 titles this year — the Grand Prix Hassan II in Morocco, the Swiss Open in Gstaad, and the Austrian Open in Kitzbuhel.
