WATCH: Naomi Osaka goes on shopping spree, shows off various skirts she got after 'challenging' herself to wear more
Naomi Osaka is attempting to step outside her fashion comfort zone by trying to wear skirts more often. During a recent "shopping haul" the Japanese tennis star bought several skirts and hoped to challenge herself in a good way.
In a recent TikTok, Naomi Osaka shared a peek into her latest purchases, showing off a variety of items she picked up. She started with some cute hair clips, even trying one on and giving fans a quick "side-view" to show how it looked.
Then, the focus shifted to skirts, where she showcased a few different styles, including a balloon skirt and a satin one. Osaka admitted that skirts aren’t usually her go-to, but she’s challenging herself and embracing this new style “in a good way.”
"I got this really cool skirt, it's really pretty... I got a balloon skirt because I don't have one, and it's like, I don't know, seems like a pretty staple," Noami Osaka said (at 0:38).
"[Shows 'satin chocolate skirt'] I'm trying to dress more, I feel like feminine is the wrong word, but I'm trying to, like, use more skirts because I don't really wear them, and I feel like it's a challenge, like, I'm challenging myself in a good way," she added.
The four-time Grand Slam champion is no stranger to making waves with her on-court fashion. Known for her custom-designed kits, Osaka has consistently turned heads with her style. Most recently, at the 2024 US Open, she sported an outfit featuring bows and frills, becoming one of the most talked-about looks.
Naomi Osaka's US Open 2024 outfit featured a skirt with frills and a bow
Naomi Osaka donned a spectacular bow-themed kit at the 2024 US Open which consisted of a skirt with frills. She had a green and white colored kit for the day match and a black and white kit for the night match. The custom-designed kit was made in collaboration with Nike and fashion designer Yoon Ahn.
The kit was called "Goth lolita" and was inspired by Osaka's Japanese heritage. In an interview with New York Times ahead of the US Open, the 26-year-old said:
"The inspiration for me was definitely Japanese, like Harajuku. I remember one of the first times I went to Japan, I saw so many frills and so many bows," Naomi said.
She further explained that she chose green for day as it gives her "peace and serenity" and black for night as it gives her "strength" and makes her feel like Marvel superhero Black Panther.
