Novak Djokovic was on dad duty during a recent training session on a rainy day at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. He was seen playing with his daughter, Tara, as the father-child duo enjoyed their hearts out.
The Serb began dating his wife Jelena Ristici in 2005. The two got engaged in 2013 and married on July 10, 2014. The couple welcomed their first child, son, Stefan in 2014 and later welcomed their second child, a daughter, Tara, in 2017.
His family is often seen cheering him on during his matches and were also present at his recent match at Wimbledon against Alexei Popyrin where his daughter was seen reading a book, whereas, his son imitated his father's smash from one of his points.
Recently, Tennis Channel's X account posted an adorable video of the Serb playing with his daughter Tara during one of his training sessions. The duo were indoors as it poured heavily outside.
"On dad duty 🥹 @DjokerNole."
Djokovic kicked off his campaign with a comfortable straight-set win against Vit Kopriva. He then faced Jacob Fearnley in the second round and though he faced a hiccup in the third set, he managed to wrap the game up in four sets.
The second seed faced Alexei Popyrin in the third round and after the Australian clinched the opening set, the Serb turned things around in typical fashion to win the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(3).
"That was for Tara" - Novak Djokovic reveals message behind the 'violin' celebration after Wimbledon R3 win
Novak Djokovic 'played' the violin after his win against Alexei Popyrin and blew a flying kiss to his family.
He later revealed during the press conference that the celebration was for his daughter Tara, who had been playing violin for six months and he had promised to do the celebration after his win.
“That was for Tara. My [daughter] has been playing violin for some time already, six months, and we agreed that I would celebrate that way," Novak Djokovic said.
He later reflected on other iconic celebrations and thought it was fun how celebrations from different sports can come together and mix and match to create an original thing.
"Usain Bolt [has his own signature celebration]! Ronaldo and that 'sui', I also like Agassi's waving with a kiss when he bows. Guga at Roland Garros with heart, there are interesting ones... Bellingham, he simply spreads its arms, Alcaraz did that, I did that at Roland Garros," Djokovic said.
The World No. 2 also stated that he changes his celebrations depending on how he feels.
"It's interesting and fun that we can take it from other sports, combine sports, it travels quickly through networks. Everyone has their own thing, I changed it, it depends on the moment and feelings, now I have a violin," he added.
Djokovic will face 15th seed Holger Rune in the fourth round, against whom he leads 3-2 in head-to-head.
