Watch: Novak Djokovic hits the practice courts ahead of Dubai Tennis Championships

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has already moved on from his record-breaking Australian Open triumph. He was recently seen hitting the practice courts ahead of his next tournament, the Dubai Tennis Championships.

The Serbian veteran returned to the Australian Open last month looking to make up for his deportation the previous year over his unvaccinated status. Djokovic was also slapped with a three-year visa ban in 2022, which was eventually overtuned.

The controversial deportation last year had given rise to a plethora of debates and discussions all over the world. But the 35-year-old took the court at Melbourne Park again this year, and did not disappoint his fans.

Djokovic won his 10th Australian Open title last month by beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. He dropped only one set throughout the tournament, and looked head and shoulders above the competition despite carrying a hamstring injury.

In a recent Instagram reel, the 22-time Grand Slam winner was seen getting in shape by hitting a few tennis balls on the court at his tennis center in Serbia.

"World number 1 @djokernole putting in the work base home in 🇷🇸 at the @novak.tennis.center," the caption read.

Novak Djokovic is set to participate in the upcoming Dubai Tennis Championships, an ATP 500 tournament that will commence on February 25. The main draw of the event starts two days later, on February 27.

Djokovic has won the tournament five times, although the last two times the title has gone to Russia, through Aslan Karatsev and Andrey Rublev.

In a recent conversation with a Belgian news outlet, Novak Djokovic confirmed that he would be conducting a press conference soon. The agenda and date of the press conference are yet to be known, and the Serb has kept mum about those details.

"I know everything but I can’t tell you anything, sorry. I decided to have a press conference. I will answer all questions there. I have already arranged with my PR team, the invitation will arrive in a few days," the 35-year-old said, via Daily Express.

Djokovic's participation in the Indian Wells Masters and Miami Open is doubtful due to his unvaccinated status. Last year, due to the US Government's rule concerning non-vaccinated people, the Serbian legend had to miss the US Open as well.

With the mandate still in place until May 11, his participation is yet to be confirmed.
