WATCH: Paula Badosa & boyfriend Stefanos Tsitsipas reunite after long break as Spaniard joins him at Swiss Indoors after ending season

Paula Badosa reunited with her boyfriend and Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas ahead of the latter's match at the Swiss Indoors. The Spanish player announced the end of her season, citing health issues.

Badosa's last match of the year was at the Ningbo Open, which didn't end well as she had to walk over in the semifinals against Daria Kasatkina. She only played the first set and took a medical timeout to be checked by the medics. However, moments later she retired from the match.

A day after this, Badosa announced her withdrawal from the Japan Open by sharing a note on her Instagram. She revealed that her health issues are the reason for her early withdrawal in the season and exuded pride in herself for achieving all that she did this year.

"Because of health issues I wasn't able to play yesterday and won't be able to play Tokyo unfortunately. My 2024 season has ended. Has been a very long season where I overcame situations I thought they were impossible," Badosa wrote. "I'm very proud of myself. I'm back where I wanted to be and where I was aiming since my comeback. (one of the best players in the world again) Already looking forward to recover well and prepare to represent my country in Malaga for BJKC. Thank you for the support always. See you soon."

Now that the Spaniard is done with her tournaments, she finally reunited with her boyfriend Tsitsipas, as they were in a long-distance setup, considering their respective tournaments. She has now joined him in his Swiss Open journey and was recently seen entering the event's stadium together.

A tennis enthusiast shared the video of the couple getting out of the car just outside the Swiss Indoor stadium. Here's the video of the couple together after a long break.

Tsitsipas won round one of the tournament against Francisco Cerundolo on 22 October with a score of 6-3, 6(3)-7(7), 7(7)-6(4).

Paula Badosa had an eventful US Open campaign this year till the quarterfinals. The third round of the tournament was the highlight for her as she revealed that her boyfriend, Stefanos Tsitsipas, almost had a heart attack while watching her compete against Elena-Gabriela Ruse.

In the post-conference interview of her third round of the US Open, the 26-year-old opened up about her boyfriend's reaction.

"He [Stefanos Tsitsipas] came running to me and he’s like, ‘I almost had a heart attack!’ And also like when I was playing, I don’t know when it was 6–6, it just came to my mind, like Stef for sure is having a heart attack right now and also my family at home. It sometimes crosses my mind and I’m like, ‘Paula, stay here now because it’s a tough moment,’” Badosa said.

Badosa further spoke about how watching the match can be nerve-wracking. She added:

"But yeah of course I think from the outside it’s so tough to watch. Even like my team when they’re watching on the court, I know they’re suffering so much. So sometimes I don’t wanna look there either because I know they’re having a heart attack but it is how it is. So I’m sorry for them."

Paula Badosa won this round with a score of 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(8). She reached the quarterfinals of the event but fell short of the semifinals after being bested by Emma Navarro with a score of 6-2, 7-5.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has advanced to the second round of the Swiss Indoors and will next be seen competing against Botic van de Zandschulp on 24 October 2024.
