Rapper Travis Scott and Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy were seen attending the 2024 US Open semifinal match between Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe. This marked the first all-American men’s Grand Slam final-four fixture since Andre Agassi faced Robby Ginepri at the 2005 edition of the New York Major.
Tiafoe is seeded 20th at Flushing Meadows and he kicked off his tournament by defeating Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in the first round. He advanced to the third round after his second-round opponent, Alexander Shevchenko, retired from their match due to an injury with the score at 6-4, 6-1, 1-0 ret.
In the third round, Tiafoe overcame 13th seed Ben Shelton 4-6, 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3 and then registered a 6-4, 7-6(3), 2-6, 3-6 win against the 28th seed Alexei Popyrin in the fourth round.
Frances Tiafoe secured his spot in the semifinals since doing the same in 2022, after his quarterfinal opponent, ninth seed Grigor Dimitrov retired from their match during the fourth set with the score reading 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-3, 4-1.
Meanwhile, Taylor Fritz, seeded 12th at the US Open defeated Camilo Ugo Carabelli 7-5, 6-1, 6-2 in the first round and then overcame Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 7-6(1), 6-1 in the second. He then triumphed over Francisco Comesana 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 and eighth seed Casper Ruud 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 in the third and fourth rounds respectively.
In the quarterfinals, the former World No.5 defeated fourth seed Alexander Zverev 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(3) to advance to his first Grand Slam semifinal.
The semifinal match between Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe has been a star-studded event. American rapper, singer and songwriter Travis Scott was in attendance at the match.

The winner of the semifinal match between Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe will go head-to-head against top seed Jannik Sinner in the final of the 2024 US Open.
Sinner began his campaign at the New York major by overcoming Mackenzie McDonald 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2 and Alex Michelsen 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 in the first and second rounds, respectively. In the third round, the Italian triumphed over Christopher O'Connell 6-1, 6-4, 6-2, and then defeated 14th seed Tommy Paul 7-6(3), 7-6(5), 6-1 in the fourth round .
The World No.1 bested fifth seed Daniil Medvedev 6-2, 1-6, 6-1, 6-4 in the quarterfinals and secured a 7-5, 7-6(3), 6-2 victory over 25th seed Jack Draper to advance to the US Open final for the first time.
Taylor Fritz and Jannik Sinner have faced each other twice on the ATP tour, with both the player winning one match each. Their most recent encounter was in the quarterfinals of the 2023 Indian Wells Masters, where the Italian emerged triumphant with a score of 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
On the other hand, Frances Tiafoe has faced Sinner five times on the ATP tour, with the World No.1 emerging victorious in four out of those five matches. Their most recent encounter took place in the final of the 2024 Cincinnati Open, where Sinner secured a 7-6(4), 6-2 win and claimed the title.
