Watch: Roger Federer and Trevor Noah star in hilarious new commercial where they take the 'Grand Train Tour of Switzerland'
Roger Federer and South African comedian Trevor Noah enjoy “the ride of a lifetime” as they tour through the tennis legend’s homeland of Switzerland in a newly released commercial.
The film, titled “The Grand Train Tour of Switzerland: The Ride of a Lifetime," was released on Wednesday by Switzerland Tourism in an effort to promote the Alpine country. It features a hilariously botched commercial within a commercial, and takes viewers on a train journey with Roger Federer and Trevor Noah.
In the video, the duo board the wrong train to Interlaken while preparing to shoot the commercial, and are unable to get out of it in time. Having forgotten their cellphones and wallets, they receive much-required help with tickets from a kind fellow passenger.
In a comedy of errors, the Swiss tennis legend and the celebrated entertainer end up enjoying the train ride through the beautiful landscape of Switzerland.
“We’re never on the wrong train. This has been amazing man. Can I just say - This has been phenomenal,” says Trevor Noah in the skit.
“I’m happy we’re on the wrong train,” the Swiss tennis legend admits.
“It was your fault, but I don’t hold that against you,” Noah teases.
The video concludes with Federer and Noah pulling off yet another escape from the film crew, an intentional one this time around. They attempt to board a different train - to Luzern.
Roger Federer has previously collaborated with other well-known figures from the entertainment industry to promote Swiss Tourism
The commercial with Trevor Noah isn’t Roger Federer’s first partnership with a well-known figure from the entertainment industry. The 20-time Grand Slam champion previously collaborated with Robert De Niro in 2021 and Anne Hathaway in 2022 in an effort to promote Swiss Tourism.
In a recent interview with FT Globetrotter, the retired 41-year-old opened up about taking the role of being an ambassador for Switzerland more seriously.
“Naturally, I have always represented Switzerland because, next to my name has always been the Swiss flag. I just felt like, with age and at the right time, maybe also with the pandemic and everything, it was the right time to jump into more of an official role,” the Swiss Maestro stated.
“It’s been great fun, you know, doing the commercial shoots with Robert De Niro and Anne Hathaway and now with Trevor. It’s been wonderful,” he added.
