Roger Federer has made his highly anticipated return to the US Open, making his first appearance at the New York Major since his retirement from professional tennis in September 2022. The Swiss legend dazzled in a stylish all-black outfit as he attended the blockbuster quarterfinal showdown between Aryna Sabalenka and Zheng Qinwen.

As the US Open nears its conclusion, with the first set of quarterfinals taking place on Tuesday, September 3, Federer ramped up the excitement by confirming his return to Flushing Meadows, where he won five of his 20 Grand Slam titles.

In an appearance on the TODAY Show, where he had the opportunity to mingle with NBA superstar Steph Curry, the 43-year-old revealed he was looking forward to watching tennis from the sidelines at Arthur Ashe Stadium for the very first time.

"Went to Wimbledon this year and I’ll go to the Open actually tonight. So I haven’t been back at the Open since I retired. So it’s going to be also I’m sure nice to be in Ashe, you know, watching tennis from the sidelines this time. It's the first time I would ever do that," he said.

The former World No. 1 made a stylish entrance at the US Open, posing for pictures in an all-black outfit and chic sunglasses.

Roger Federer was welcomed with thunderous applause upon his arrival at Arthur Ashe Stadium, greeting the excited fans with a smile while Aryna Sabalenka and Zheng Qinwen battled it out in a rematch of this year's Australian Open final.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion witnessed Sabalenka's dominant performance to claim a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Zheng and advance to the semifinals of the US Open for the fourth year in a row. The World No. 2 will battle it out against Emma Navarro for a place in the final, following the American's 6-2, 7-5 win over Paula Badosa.

Roger Federer is expected to remain at Arthur Ashe Stadium to attend the highly anticipated quarterfinal clash between Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov at the 2024 US Open. The Swiss legend is in for a show as the duo will face off in their fourth tour-level meeting after delivering strong performances throughout the Major.

Dimitrov enjoys a 3-1 lead in his head-to-head record against Tiafoe, including a commanding 6-2, 6-3, 6-2 victory in their most recent encounter at the Wimbledon Championships earlier this year. However, the American won their last hardcourt meeting, claiming a 7-5, 7-6(6), 6-7(1), 7-5 victory at the 2019 Australian Open.

If Frances Tiafoe triumphs over Grigor Dimitrov, he will face Taylor Fritz in a blockbuster all-American semifinal showdown, with both players vying to become the first American man to triumph at their home Slam since Andy Roddick emerged victorious in 2003.
