Serena Williams was seen having what seemed like a lively conversation with Frances Tiafoe during Coco Gauff's fourth-round match at the 2024 US Open. Taylor Fritz was also seen joining them and Williams consequently embracing him warmly.
Tiafoe is seeded 20th at the New York Major and he started the tournament by defeating Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in the first round. He progressed to the third round after his second-round opponent, Alexander Shevchenko, retired due to an injury, with the score at 6-4, 6-1, 1-0 ret.
In the third round match, the American overcame 13th seed Ben Shelton 4-6, 7-5, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-3. Most recently, he secured a victory over the 28th seed Alexei Popyrin 6-4, 7-6(3), 2-6, 3-6 in the fourth round.
Meanwhile, Taylor Fritz, seeded 12th, began his Flushing Meadows campaign by defeating Camilo Ugo Carabelli 7-5, 6-1, 6-2, and Matteo Berrettini 6-3, 7-6(1), 6-1 in the first and second rounds, respectively.
Fritz then triumphed over Francisco Comesana 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in the third round and then defeated the eighth seed Casper Ruud 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 in the fourth round.
During Coco Gauff's fourth round match against Emma Navarro, Frances Tiafoe was seen having a conversation with Serena Williams. Shortly after, Taylor Fritz joined the conversation, and the 23-times Grand Slam champion even greeted him with a warm hug.

Both Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz have advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2024 US Open. Tiafoe will go up against ninth seed Grigor Dimitrov, while Fritz will face off against the fourth seed Alexander Zverev.
Zverev defeated Maximilian Marterer and Alexandre Muller in the first and second rounds, respectively. He then overcame Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the third round and Brandon Nakashima in the fourth round to advance to the quarterfinals of the New York Slam.
Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev have met nine times on the ATP tour, with the German winning five or those four match-ups. Their most recent encounter was in the fourth round of the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, which Fritz won 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6,(3), 6-3.
Meanwhile, Grigor Dimitrov kicked off his US Open campaign with wins over Kyrian Jacquet in the first round and Rinky Hijikata in the second round. He then defeated Tallon Griekspoor and Andrey Rublev in the third and fourth rounds, respectively to move to the last eight at Flushing Meadows.
Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov have faced each other four times on the ATP tour, with Dimitrov holding the edge in their head-to-head matchups by winning three of the four match-ups. Their most recent clash was in the third round of the 2023 Wimbledon Championships, where the World No.9 won 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.
