"We need you" - Boris Becker sends heartfelt wishes to Kylian Mbappe as France's forward sustains bloody nose in Euro 2024 match against Austria
Boris Becker expressed heartfelt wishes following Kylian Mbappe's injury at Euro 2024. Mbappe sustained a bloody nose while challenging for a header when he bumped into Austrian Kevin Danso's shoulder during the match.
France narrowly defeated Austria by 1-0 in the opening Group D match, courtesy of Maximilian Wober's own goal in the 38th minute. However, the triumph was diminished by the facial injury Mbappe suffered in the final stages of the match.
Play was stopped subsequently and the French captain underwent treatment on the pitch, with blood visibly staining his t-shirt. He was later escorted to the hospital due to a suspected broken nose.
Reacting to the injury, six-time Major champion Boris Becker conveyed his concern for Kylian Mbappe in his Instagram story, while also expressing his eagerness to see Mbappe return for Euro 2024.
"Get well soon, we need U at the Euros KM," Becker wrote.
Mbappe's absence could raise significant concerns as it may hinder France's pursuit of winning a third European title. Les Bleus will face the Netherlands on Friday in their second Group D encounter.
