"We sat there for 8 hours" - Elena Rybakina fondly reminisces about enjoying 'huge' rollercoaster ride with sister Anna despite initial reservations
Elena Rybakina has opened up about indulging her adventurous spirit with her sister Anna, fondly reminiscing about their "amazing" experience at Universal Studios in Orlando. The Kazakh said so after her quarterfinal win at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.
Rybakina reached her third Grand Slam semifinal with an impressive performance against Elina Svitolina, winning 6-3, 6-2 in 61 minutes. The Kazakh is set to battle it out against Barbora Krejcikova for a spot in the final.
Just two wins away from her second Wimbledon title, the World No. 4 is looking forward to enjoying some leisure time following her campaign. Making an appearance on the Tennis Channel after her victory, Elena Rybakina expressed her excitement about indulging her love for rollercoasters once she gets some free time, an activity she typically engages in with her sister Anna.
"I love rollercoasters, I love all this kind of stuff so hopefully I can do some fun things outside of the court when I have more time," she said.
When asked about their favorite rollercoaster experience together, the 25-year-old fondly revisited her trip to Universal Studios in Orlando with her sister Anna after her runner-up finish at the 2023 Miami Open.
Rybakina admitted that she was initially apprehensive and "shocked" about going on one of the biggest rides at the theme park, but she and her sister eventually ended up spending eight hours on the ride.
"We went, after Miami final, in Orlando and I think it's quite huge, the first ride we got. It was actually one of the biggest and I was shocked and I was thinking that for now we are stopping, we are not doing it anymore. I needed some time and then we sat there for like eight hours I think. It was pretty amazing," she added.
Elena Rybakina had shared the highlights of her and Anna's "crazy day" on social media, offering a glimpse of their fun-filled day at Universal Studios.
The Kazakh and her sister also enjoyed a fun rollercoaster ride while exploring Ferrari World on Yas Island before her campaign at the 2024 Abu Dhabi Open.
Elena Rybakina's sister Anna cheered on the Kazakh during her Wimbledon QF win
Elena Rybakina's sister Anna showed her support for the World No. 4 during her quarterfinal win over Elina Svitolina at the 2024 Wimbledon Championships. Despite the World No. 5's commanding straight-set win, her sister was spotted going through a rollercoaster of emotions while cheering on the 25-year-old.
Rybakina will certainly appreciate being surrounded by Anna's "positive" energy during her campaign at SW19. In her pre-tournament press conference at the 2023 French Open, the World No. 4 shared how her sister's sunny personality helped her on bad days.
"She's very positive. Also, a lot of energy from her. So it's just nice that we are able to spend time together. And, yeah, I think she's also helping, especially if you have a bad day or something, she's the one always positive. So it's good," she said.
If Elena Rybakina triumphs over Barbora Krejcikova in the semifinals of the grasscourt Major, she will take on Jasmine Paolini or Donna Vekic in the final.
