After an exciting Australian Open, Grand Slam tennis shifts to Paris for the French Open. Flocks of tennis fans will be gathered at the Stade Roland Garros to witness the best players fighting it out for the claycourt Major.
Fans who will enter the stadium will have to follow certain guidelines when it comes to objects that can or cannot be allowed inside.
Forbidden items include cameras, helmets, camera lenses, selfie sticks and bags that have a capacity of over 1.5 litres. Consumable items are also prohibited inside the stadium at the French Open. These include alcohol, bottles over a capacity of 1.5 litres, glass containers and drugs. Ice packs are also not allowed inside the stadium.
Transportation objects like scooters, strollers, hoverboards, roller skates, skateboards and bicycles should also not be present. Weapons, any sort of fireworks or pyrotechnics or sharp objects like scissors are not allowed inside the stadium.
Fans should also not have objects like horns, banners, flags or musical instruments when they are inside the stadium.
Rafael Nadal is unseeded at the French Open for the first time
Rafael Nadal is ranked 276th in the world, and he entered the main draw of the French Open by using a protected ranking.
The Spaniard is unseeded at the claycourt Major for the very first time in his illustrious career. It's also the first Grand Slam since the 2005 Australian Open, where he's not a seeded competitor.
Nadal faces Italian Open champion and fourth seed Alexander Zverev in the first round. It will be the 11th meeting between the two, with the Spaniard leading 7-3 in their head-to-head. Whoever wins will face David Goffin or Giovanni Mpetschi Perricard in the second round.
Elsewhere, Naomi Osaka booked her place in the second round with a 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 win over Lucia Bronzetti. She will next take on either two-time defending champion Iga Swiatek or Leolia Jeanjean.
Meanwhile, defending men's singles champion Novak Djokovic starts his quest for a fourth title in Paris against local boy Pierre-Hugues Herbert. The winner will play Roberto Carballes Baena or Constant Lestienne in the second round.
