“What? How?” - Serena Williams reacts to Caroline Wozniacki's basketball skills during latter's outing with her children
While American tennis icon Serena Williams expressed her surprise at Danish star Caroline Wozniacki’s basketball skills. Recently, while playing a shooting game with her kids, the Dane displayed her impressive shooting skills.
Wozniacki married former NBA star David Lee in June 2019 in Italy, and the couple has two kids, daughter Olivia Wozniacki Lee, born in June 2021, and son James Wozniacki Lee, born October 24, 2022.
Notably, Wozniacki and Williams have been very close friends, with the latter serving as a bridesmaid at Wozniacki’s wedding.
Wozniacki recently took to Instagram to share a video of her playing basketball. The video also features her children who joined her as she shot at a basket set up on farm machinery in an outdoors setting. She captioned the post,
“Good defense , better offense 😎🏀”
Williams, widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, upon seeing Wozniacki’s shooting skills, commented,
“What!??? How????”
Caroline Wozniacki on whether she could get in touch with Serena Williams during US Open 2024
At the 2024 US Open, Caroline Wozniacki advanced to the Round of 16 after defeating Jessika Ponchet in straight sets 6-3, 6-2. Following her third-round victory, Wozniacki was asked during her post-match press conference if she had been able to get in touch with close friend Serena Williams. She responded,
“Serena is obviously still very busy. I think when you've been such incredible at something I think you know you'll always have the opportunity and you'll always be great at whatever you put your mind to. She obviously is busy, she has two kids, she has a husband, she has her sponsorship. She has all of that” (6:08).
Wozniacki also mentioned how much she enjoys spending time with Williams and appreciated the support that she received from her:
“But, I love hanging with her. I love talking to her. I love the support that I get from her as well so it's nice. I'm I was texting her earlier today and hoping that we'll have time to catch up.”
Unfortunately, Wozniacki couldn’t go past the US Open’s Round of 16, losing to World no.22 Beatriz Haddad Maia 2-6, 6-3, 3-6.
