Wimbledon 2024: How much prize money did Emma Raducanu get despite losing in the fourth round of women's singles?

Emma Raducanu's Wimbledon 2024 campaign concluded with a fourth-round defeat to qualifier Lulu Sun on Sunday (July 7). After going down a set, the Brit fought back to capture the second set but couldn't sustain the momentum in the decider, and lost the match 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.

The 21-year-old's run at Wimbledon fetched her a tidy sum of £226,000 (approx. $244,900). This is the most she has earned from a single tournament this season. A second-round appearance at the Australian Open added A$180,000 (approx. $121,000) to her tally, her previous best total in terms of prize money this year.

Raducanu matched her best result at Wimbledon with a fourth-round showing this year. She made it this far upon her Grand Slam debut back in 2021. She also made it past the second round of a Major for the first time since her title-winning run at the 2021 US Open.

While Raducanu is now out of the tournament, it was still quite a success for her. Aside from securing one of the best results of her season, she also registered her second win over a top-10 player by beating World No. 9 Maria Sakkari in the third round.

Emma Raducanu's fourth-round run at Wimbledon 2024 nearly doubled her on-court earnings in the span of one week. As mentioned earlier, she earned around $121,000 by reaching the second round of the Australian Open.

The Brit also made the third round of the Indian Wells Open, which earned her $59,100. She advanced to the semifinals of the WTA 250 event in Nottingham and received $11,610 for it. She also reached a couple of quarterfinals at the WTA 500 tournaments in Stuttgart and Eastbourne, and got $8510 each time for her efforts.

Raducanu participated in nine tournaments before Wimbledon, and earned a total of $252,758. Her Wimbledon run has now added $244,900 to her yearly tally, which almost equalled the amount she earned prior to the grass court Major. She has made a total of $497,658 this year.

Raducanu earned $2.8 million in 2021, largely in part due to her triumph at the US Open. It remains her best season in terms of prize money earned from tennis. However, her vast portfolio of endorsements outstrip her on-court earnings by a fair margin.

The Brit was fourth-highest earning female athlete last year as per Forbes. She made $15.2 million in 2023 despite being sidelined for most of the season due to injuries.
