Wimbledon 2024: How much prize money did Yuki Bhambri get despite losing in the second round of men's doubles?

Indian tennis player Yuki Bhambri’s journey at Wimbledon 2024 came to an end in the second round. Partnered with Frenchman Albano Olivetti in the men’s doubles category, Bhambri lost against the German duo of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz.

Playing on Court 8, Bhambri and Albano took the first set 6-4 against the eighth-seeded Germans but eventually fell short, losing the other two sets 4-6 and 3-6 to bid adieu to Wimbledon, after a match lasting two hours and five minutes. It was a praise-worthy performance by the duo, given the fact that their opponents were former Grand Slam champions.

Despite the exit in the second round, Bhambri and Olivetti claimed a decent share of prize money. As per Wimbledon 2024, a pair that finishes in the second round of men’s/ women’s doubles gets a total of €25000 (approximately INR 26 Lakhs).

Thus, Bhambri will get €12500 (approximately INR 13 Lakhs) for his participation uptil the second round of Wimbledon 2024.

Yuki Bhambri’s overall performance at Wimbledon 2024

Yuki Bhambri’s start to Wimbledon 2024 couldn’t have been more memorable. Playing on Thursday, 4 July, his 32nd birthday, Bhambri and his partner Albano Olivetti defeated the Kazakhstani duo of Alexander Bublik and Alexander Shevchenko in straight sets 6-4, 6-4.

It was perhaps the perfect gift Bhambri could have received. This win marked his first-ever victory in a main draw match at Wimbledon. Although his journey was short-lived after losing in the second round, the 32-year-old can still take home many positives from his outing.

He unfortunately missed out on a Paris Olympics 2024 spot after the International Tennis Federation released their list. Veteran Rohan Bopanna decided to pair up with Sriram Balaji, whereas Sumit Nagal and Bhambri, whose combined rank is 131, failed to get their name on the final list released by ITF.
