Wimbledon 2024: Novak Djokovic, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner among the seeded players to enter the second week

The 2024 Wimbledon Championships witnessed plenty of upsets right from the start. With the conclusion of the third round on Saturday (July 6), 13 seeded players remain in the draw. With there being room for only 16 players in the fourth round, this is a pretty good performance from the seeds despite some big names crashing out early.

All top five seeds have safely made the second week of Wimbledon. Top seed Jannik Sinner needed four sets to win his first couple of matches but eased past Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets to reach the fourth round.

After a strong start, second seed Novak Djokovic rallied from a set down to beat Alexei Popyrin in the third round. Third seed Carlos Alcaraz survived a mighty scare from Frances Tiafoe in the third round to beat him in five sets. Fourth seed Alexander Zverev is yet to drop a set, while fifth seed Daniil Medvedev is through to the fourth round without much fuss as well.

Ninth seed Alex de Minaur has largely flown under the radar but has made the fourth round, along with 10th seed Grigor Dimitrov. The American trio of Tommy Paul, Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton, seeded 12th, 13th, and 14th, respectively, have made the fourth round as well.

Fifteenth seed Holger Rune staged a comeback from two sets to love down for the first time in his career to beat Quentin Halys in the third round. He has now reached the fourth round of Wimbledon for the second year in a row. Sixteenth seed Ugo Humbert and 25th seed Lorenzo Musetti are the other seeded players to make it this far.

Sixth seed Andrey Rublev remains the highest-seeded player to have been eliminated from Wimbledon so far. The Russian was stunned by Francisco Comesana in the first round itself. Seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz had to retire from his second-round match against Arthur Fils after injuring himself.

Eighth seed Casper Ruud continued to underperform at the All England Club with a second-round loss to Fabio Fognini. The Norwegian has never been beyond this stage in his career. Eleventh seed Stefanos Tsitsipas was shown the door by Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round.

Twentieth seed Sebastian Korda went down to lucky loser Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the first round. Twenty-eighth seed Jack Draper, who won a title on grass in the leadup to Wimbledon, was knocked out in the second round by Cameron Norrie.

Felix Auger-Aliassime, Nicolas Jarry, Sebastian Baez, Adrian Mannarino, Francisco Cerundolo, and Mariano Navone were among the seeded players to lose in the first round.

Tallon Griekspoor, Karen Khachanov, Tomas Martin Etcheverry, and Zhang Zhizhen were the seeds eliminated in the second round. Alexander Bublik, Alejandro Tabilo and Frances Tiafoe were the seeded players to go down in the third round.
