Aryna Sabalenka dominated the Grand Slams in 2024

Aryna Sabalennka had a breakthrough year in her career as he finished as the World No. 1 for the first time in her career. The major part of that result was due to the Belarusian's invincible form at the Majors this year.

Sabalenka won her second and third Major titles at the Australian Open and the US Open, respectively. She reached the quarterfinal at the French Open and withdrew from the Wimbledon Championships due to injury. She only lost one match at the Majors this year, losing the quarterfinals at Roland Garros to Mirra Andreeva.

Swiatek maintained her dominance on clay by claiming a fourth title at the French Open and her fifth Major overall, with a win over Jasmine Paolini in the final. The Pole has only lost two matches at the clay-court Major to date.

Barbora Krejcikova won her second Major of her career, triumphing at the Wimbledon Championships. The Czech player put together an inspired run at the All-England Club, winning against the likes of Danielle Collins, Jelena Ostapenko, Elena Rybakina, and Jasmine Paolini to win the title.

Iga Swiatek dominated the WTA 1000 Events

Iga Swiatek was at her regal best at the WTA 1000 events this season. She has a 30-3 record at this level in 2024, winning four titles in Qatar, Indian Wells, Madrid and Rome. The WTA Finals in Riyadh saw Coco Gauff win her biggest title of the season, her second-best triumph of her career following her US Open triumph last year. After an under-par season for the first part of the year, which saw the American fail to defend her crown in New York, the 20-year-old came storming back, winning the WTA title in Beijing and reaching the semifinal of the Wuhan Open.

At Riyadh, Gauff defeated Jessica Pegula and Iga Swiatek but lost to Barbora Krejcikova in the group stage. However, the American found her form in the knockouts again, defeating the in-form Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals and then winning against Zheng Qinwen in the final to win her third title of the year.

2024 was also a special year in the world of tennis due to the Paris Olympics. It was Zheng Qinwe who won the prestigious gold medal for her country, defeating players like Sara Errani, Arantxa Rus, Emma Navarro, and Angelique Kerber to reach the semifinals. In the final four, she defeated four-time Roland Garros champion Iga Swiatek and then won against Donna Vekic in the final to clinch the gold.
