Aryna Sabalenka and Jasmine Paolini will lock horns looking to secure their second win at the 2024 WTA Finals on Monday, 4 November 4. Day 3 of the season-ending extravaganza will witness the duo's first meeting this year.
Sabalenka cruised to a 6-4, 6-3 win over Zheng Qinwen in her opening match. The big-hitting Belarusian was in complete control of the encounter, never dropping her serve on the way to her straight-sets win. She has now won 22 of her last 23 matches.
Paolini, meanwhile, also turned in a showcase of all-court tennis in her 7-6(5), 6-4 win over Elena Rybakina. The dynamic Italian turned defense into offense on several occasions, bamboozling her opponent into submission after a very tight first set.
Rybakina and Zheng, meanwhile, will clash in the second singles match of the day. The two serve-stats leaders of the WTA Tour will be hungry for their first win at the WTA Finals.
The doubles action will see Hsieh Su-Wei and Elise Mertens take on Jelena Ostapneko and Lyudmyla Kichenok, while Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez will square off against Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend.
