Emma Raducanu vs Daria Snigur preview
Emma Raducanu made a winning return to competition at the 2024 Nottingham Open, delighting home fans with a solid 6-1, 6-4 win over qualifier Ena Shibahara in her opening-round encounter.
The Briton, who is unseeded at this year’s tournament, improved her season’s win-loss record to 10-7 with her win. More importantly, however, she seemed to enjoy her time on court after a series of injuries derailed her progress.
Buoyed by the support of home fans, Raducanu will look to carry the winning momentum deeper into the tournament.
Snigur, who first drew eyeballs after upsetting Simona Halep at the 2022 US Open, is playing in just her fourth main draw for the season. Prior to Nottingham, she was yet to pick up a win.
The Ukrainian did, however, claim a big scalp in her opening match in the form of second seed Marta Kostyuk. The win was not entirely surprising as she had picked a few good wins — and a title — on the ITF circuit in recent months.
Emma Raducanu vs Daria Snigur head-to-head

Emma Raducanu vs Daria Snigur prediction
Emma Raducanu and Diana Snigur have a lot in common. Both players achieved success at a young age, with the Briton claiming the US Open 2022 crown as a teenager and the Ukrainian lifting the Wimbledon junior title. Their past results are also a testament to their acumen for playing on grass and thus fans can expect a tight battle when they take to court.
Snigur did well to fend off pace against Marta Kostyuk in her opener, but that’s not her natural game. The youngster likes to be aggressive and that, at times, also gives way to easy errors.
Against someone like Raducanu, who likes to hold her position up on the baseline, things can get tricky. The Briton was not the most proficient behind serve in her last match, but more than made up for it with the return game as she captured six breaks of serve.
Raducanu is the also more experienced of the two players despite being a year younger. She will have the home advantage playing in her favor and if she can replicate her opening match return numbers, she could well be on her way into the third round.
Prediction: Raducanu to win in three sets.
