Ninth seed Alex de Minaur will lock horns with 2022 champion and 13th seed Holger Rune in a tantalizing quarterfinal clash at the 2024 Paris Masters on Friday, November 1.
De Minaur arrived at the French capital following a semifinal run at the European Open in Antwerp, where he fell to Karen Khachanov in straight sets. He began his campaign at the Paris Masters this week with a commanding 7-5, 6-1 win over Mariano Navone.
In the second round, De Minaur overcame a tough challenge from lucky loser Miomir Kecmanovic, winning 6-4, 7-6(5). He then mounted an impressive comeback against last week's Erste Bank Open champion, Jack Draper, rallying from a set down to secure an emphatic 5-7, 7-5, 6-3 comeback victory.
Rune also entered Paris on the back of a semifinal run at the Swiss Indoors in Basel. He kicked off things this week in Bercy with a solid 6-4, 6-4 win over Matteo Arnaldi and maintained his form in the second round, defeating Alexander Bublik 6-4, 6-2.
Up against home favorite Arthur Cazaux in the third round, Rune lost the first set but like De Minaur, he showed incredible resilience and let his experience do the talking as he secured a 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
