Grigor Dimitrov vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry preview
Eighth seed and last year's finalist Grigor Dimitrov is slated to open his 2024 Paris Masters campaign against Argentina's Tomas Martin Etcheverry in a highly anticipated second-round clash on Wednesday, October 30.
Dimitrov arrived in Paris with a 44-17 match record this season, including one title win in Brisbane. He also reached the finals in Marseille, Miami, and Stockholm most recently. He's impressed at the Grand Slams this year as well, reaching the quarterfinals in both New York and Paris and making it to the fourth round at Wimbledon.
Dimitrov's last tournament appearance was at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, where he defeated Zhizhen Zhang in his opener but was ultimately edged out by Tomas Machac in a tough three-set match in the subsequent round, despite taking the first set.
Meanwhile, Etcheverry, who comes to Paris with a 29-27 record, had his best season performance with a run to the final in Lyon and semifinal finishes in Houston and Barcelona.
Etcheverry competed at the Swiss Indoors in Basel last, where he was eliminated in the first round by eventual finalist Ben Shelton. He kicked off his Paris Masters campaign this week with a solid 6-3, 7-6(6) win over China’s Zhizhen Zhang in the first round earlier today.

Grigor Dimitrov vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry prediction
Grigor Dimitrov enters the Paris Masters in strong form, particularly on hardcourts this season, where he holds an impressive 32-11 record, including an 11-4 mark indoors. Aside from his first-round exit in Cincinnati, he has consistently advanced deep into hardcourt tournaments, making him a real force to be reckoned with.
Tomas Martin Etcheverry, in contrast, has struggled on the surface, compiling a 10-12 record for the season and just a 4-2 showing indoors. His success has largely come on clay this year and over his career and is yet to reach a hardcourt final, with all of his last three appearances coming on clay.
Adapting to the speed of indoor courts has proven challenging for Etcheverry, whereas Dimitrov has thrived, having won three indoor titles over his career.
Given Dimitrov’s superior indoor hardcourt record, he enters this matchup as the firm favorite. As he aims to build on his performance from last year, Dimitrov looks poised to progress with relative ease in this contest.
Pick: Dimitrov in straight sets.
