Bianca Andreescu vs Donna Vekic preview
Bianca Andreescu will face 13th seed Donna Vekic in the second round of the Paris Olympics. Whoever comes out on top, will take on either second seed Coco Gauff or Maria Lourdes Carle.
Andreescu entered Paris after a third-round exit at Wimbledon, where she lost to Jasmine Paolini. The Canadian faced Denmark's Clara Tauson in the first round and started strongly by taking the first set 6-2.
Andreescu was a break down in the second set but she fought back strongly and won it 6-3 to book her place in the second round.
Donna Vekic had a dream run at Wimbledon, as she reached her maiden Grand Slam semifinal with wins over Wang Xiyu, Erika Andreeva, Dayana Yastremska, Paula Badosa and Lulu Sun. Here, she lost to Jasmine Paolini. She previously reached the final of the Bad Homburg Open.
Vekic faced Lucia Bronzetti in the first round at the Paris Olympics and dominated the first set, winning it 6-2. The Italian showed some resistance in the second set but the Croat was not to be denied, and she registered a 6-2, 7-5 win to move on to the second round.

Bianca Andreescu vs Donna Vekic prediction
Donna Vekic's recent run of form makes her the favorite entering the match but Andreescu is more than capable of being a menace to the Croat when she is at her best.
Vekic did not have the most impressive first-serve performance in her last match, as she won 19 out of 29 points (65.5%). The Croat also served four double faults, something she will hope not to repeat against Andreescu. She also produced 35 winners, which was a tad higher than her unforced-error tally of 29.
The Croat is an aggressive player who likes to go for her shots and hits them with a lot of power.
Andreescu has a variety of shots in her arsenal and they will all have to be on display if she is to cope with Vekic's intensity. The Canadian's fitness has been a concern, so if she is healthy enough, her opponent will have a tough day on court.
Andreescu only served one ace in her first-round match but she did win 25 out of 31 points on her first serve. A break or two, and the 2019 US Open champion could well book her place in the round of 16. Not to forget, clay has not been the best surface for Vekic.
Pick: Andreescu to win in three sets.
