Purav Raja-Divij Sharan win away from Wimbledon main draw
Indian duo Purav Raja and Divij Sharan won their opening round encounter of the men’s doubles qualifiers for Wimbledon 2013. They beat Flavio Cipolla and Wayne Odesnik in straight sets 6-2 6-4.
The number 4 seeded Indian pair who had last week reached the finals at Nottingham, continued their good form in the qualifiers. They had lost a very closely fought encounter against the Thai twins Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana in the finals, losing 10-8 in the super tie break.
Raja-Sharan will now face Andreas Haider Maurer and Jiri Vesely in the second round of qualifiers. If the duo does manage to qualify, it would ensure that five Indian doubles players will be in the Wimbledon main draw.
