Brandon Nakashima vs Dan Evans preview
Brandon Nakashima will open his campaign at the cinch Championships against Dan Evans in the first round on Tuesday, June 18.
Nakashima enters the ATP 500 event in London on the back of some good form on the grass this year. He began by reaching the semi-finals of the Surbiton Trophy, a challenger, going down to Leandro Reidi in a gripping three-set contest 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
He carried that good form into Stuttgart, making it to the semifinals. He got past the likes of Christopher Eubanks, Richard Gasquet, and Jan-Lennard Struff (wo), before going down to eventual champion Jack Draper 6-3, 6-3.
Evans, meanwhile, also kicked off his grass-court swing at the Surbiton Challenger. Seeded second, he prevailed in his opener that went the distance but was not so lucky in his second round, going down despite clinching the first set.
Seeded second at the Nottingham Challenger last week, the Brit suffered another disappointing defeat in the last eight. He once again failed to capitalize on the first set lead, ultimately going down 6-3, 3-6, 2-6 to compatriot Charles Broom.

Brandon Nakashima vs Dan Evans prediction
Brandon Nakashima enters his contest against Dan Evans the favorite to make it through considering his recent run of form on the grass.
The American has had a relatively good 2024 season so far and seems to have carried that momentum onto the grass. He holds a 5-2 match record on the surface so far and looks hungry to make a deep run in Queens. He's been firing on all cylinders on serve and has looked particularly good down the forehand wing.
Evans, meanwhile, has had a sub-par 2024 and his fortunes haven't changed much on the grass. He's been marred by inconsistency and has failed to create an impact when it has mattered most. His record when matches have gone the distance has been a cause for concern too.
While fans can expect a tight encounter between two high-pedigree ATP professionals, Nakashima should come through in straight sets. He showed his class the last time they met and it could be more of the same if Evans does not make early inroads.
Pick: Nakashima in straight sets.
