Brandon Nakashima vs Lorenzo Musetti preview
Brandon Nakashima will square off against Lorenzo Musetti in the second round of the 2024 Cinch Championships on Thursday, June 20.
Nakashima has had a good run on the grass so far this year. He opened his campaign at the Surbiton challenger where he reached the last four, going down to Leandro Reidi 6-4, 3-6, 6-1. He carried that good form into Stuttgart, overcoming the likes of Christopher Eubanks, Richard Gasquet, and Jan-Lennard Struff (wo) en route to the last four. Sixth seed Jack Draper, however, proved too strong for him at this stage and sealed the tie in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.
Nakashima went up against home favorite Dan Evans in the first round of the Cinch Championships. The pair were evenly matched in the opening two sets, splitting it evenly to send it into a decider. Evans, however, was forced to retire before the start of the second set due to a knee injury.
Musetti has also seen a wave of good form on the grass. He reached the final four in Stuttgart last week, getting the better of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Dominik Koepfer, and third seed Alexander Bublik before going down to compatriot Matteo Berrettini in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
Musetti opened his campaign in Queen's against second-seed and last year's runner-up Alex de Minaur. Coming off a spectacular title run in 's-Hertogenbosch last week, de Minaur started the stronger, sealing the first set comfortably on the back of two breaks. A spirited effort from Musetti in the second saw him even score and send it to a decider. Musetti grabbed the momentum early in the decider and eventually sealed the tie 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 with a gritty hold of serve.

Brandon Nakashima vs Lorenzo Musetti prediction
Brandon Nakashima and Lorenzo Musetti's second-round encounter promises plenty of action. Both of them have got their grass court campaigns off to a great start and look eager to make a deep run in the British capital, in what is a final lead-up to the Wimbledon Championships.
Nakashima has surprised everybody over the past two weeks with his grass-court prowess and he only seems to be getting better. He did start slow in his opener in Queen's, but quickly turned things around with some blistering play from the back of the court.
Musetti has also been playing some of his best tennis over the past couple of weeks. He displays incredible mental fortitude in his opener against a red-hot Alex de Minaur, fighting his way back from a set down to seal the win. His net play in particular has been a stand out and could be a vital cog in his arsenal going forward.
Musetti should make it through this encounter despite Nakashima's good run recently. The Italian looks far superior on serve and while coming to the net.
Pick: Musetti in three sets.
