Taylor Fritz vs Jordan Thompson preview
Taylor Fritz and Jordan Thomspson booked their spots in the 2024 cinch Championships quarterfinal in contrasting fashion.
Fritz, the fouth seed at this year’s tournament, needed two tight sets to halt the bi-serving Canadian Milos Raonic in his last match. He came through 7-6(5), 6-4. He had earlier beaten Taro Daniel 6-3, 6-3 in the opener.
Fritz's overall win-loss record of 27-11 holds him in good stead as he looks to post another big result in the lead-up to the Wimbledon Championships.
Thompson, on the other hand, did not have to sweat it out on the court as his second-round opponent, Andy Murray, pulled the plug on their match after going down 4-1 in the opening set. Murray had to retire due to a back injury. Earlier, Thompson got the better of Holger Rune in his opening match.
Thompson's win-loss record this year is 18-14 and it includes a title at Los Cabos. On grass, he lost his only match against Milos Raonic before entering the Queen’s Club championships.
Taylor Fritz vs Jordan Thompson head-to-head

Taylor Fritz vs Jordan Thompson prediction
Taylor Fritz’s power-packed game is perfect for grass, which rewards the big ball strikers. The American has collected 24 aces in his first couple of matches and is yet to drop a serve.
Against Jordan Thompson, the American will once again rely on his serve to keep him ahead in the match. His opponent has been unlucky with the draw of late, having been pitted against current or former top-10 players in all his three matches on grass so far.
While he was out-served by Milos Raonic in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Aussie recovered well to take out Holger Rune in his opener here. In the next round, Murray failed to present much of a fight.
Having said that, playing against Fritz comes with a new set of challenges. Rune is greenhorn on grass and Raonic/Murray have both struggled with injuries of late. Fritz, however, has two grasscourt titles under his belt and is fully fit.
When playing at his best, Fritz can be really dangerous from the baseline. His serve has been firing on all cylinders and unless Thompson can find a way to throw him off rhythm, he should be able to make it to the semifinals.
Prediction: Fritz to win in two tight sets
