Rio Olympics 2016: Mixed doubles complete schedule

A lot is expected of Mirza/Bopanna

The mixed doubles schedule for Rio 2016 has been announced. 16 teams will be participating in the first round of the event.

The Indian pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna will go up against Samatha Stosur and John Peers in the first round. They have been seeded at 4 and should put up a good showing.

Spain have two teams competing in the event. The team of Garbine Muruguza and Rafale Nadal seem to be a very strong pair and could be considered favourites for the tournament despite only being seeded 3. Their second team of Carla Suarez Navarro and David Ferrer are also an intimidating team.

The Great Britain team of Johanna Konta and Jamie Murray also seem like a good matchup but might not make it all the way to the finals. The US also have two teams with Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram considered the stronger of the pairs.

The top two seeds for the tournament are both from France. Caroline Garcia and Nicolas Mahut have been seeded as 1 and Kristina Mladenoivc and Pierre-Hugues Herbert have been seeded No. 2

This is the last chance for India to win a medal in Tennis at Rio after both of them lost with their respective partners in the men's and women's doubles events. This is also arguably the strongest pair of the three participating in the games.
