Sania Mirza to lead India in the Fed Cup event in February

India named its team for the Fed Cup competition in February and no surprise that Sania Mirza is leading the Indian team. Sania has not played much singles this year but is still India’s highest ranked singles player.

India plays in the Asia/Oceania Group I tie of the Fed Cup tournament in February. Other players in the Indian squad include Kyra Shroff and teenagers Rutuja Bhosale and Rishika Sunkara.

Ankita Raina and Prerna Bhambri have been named as reserve players for event.

India got promoted to Group I for next year after spending a year in Group II. India defeated Hong Kong 2-1 in the play-off earlier this year to move into Group I.

The Asia Oceania Fed Cup Group I ties will take place in Kazakhstan in early February.
