Sania Mirza to team up with Martina Hingis

Sania Mirza

Sania Mirza will now be partnering Swiss legend Martina Hingis ahead of the US hardcourt swing beginning this month. Mirza split with her doubles partner Hsieh Su-wei after finishing as runners-up in Doha. The Indian clarified that the Chinese Taipei player wasn’t feeling secure from one side of the court.

"My results with Hsieh have not been extraordinary in the five tournaments we played since January," Sania said. "Hsieh is not feeling comfortable while playing on the Advantage court and feels she's struggling to make the adjustment. I tried playing on the backhand side in Doha and we did reach the final but I feel I am unable to play my best tennis from the Advantage court when we are playing against the top teams of the world," she added.

5-time Grand Slam singles champion Martina Hingis will look to add more titles to her glittering career teaming up with Mirza. The Hyderabadi is excited about playing with the Swiss. "I will now be partnering Martina, who is one of the most experienced players on the circuit and is an Ad court specialist as well."

The duo of Hingis and Leander Paes won the Australian Open mixed doubles title last month.
