Sania Mirza top seed for French Open mixed doubles
Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza and her Swedish partner Robert Lindstedt have been seeded first for the mixed doubles event at the French Open. The Indian-Swedish duo will be playing together for the first time and will have a tough opening match against the pairing of Aisam Ul Haq Qureshi and Cara Black. Mirza had earlier paired up with American Bob Bryan for the Australian Open but had lost out in the quarter finals.
World number 6 Mahesh Bhupathi has paired up with Australian Casey Dellacqua for the mixed doubles event at Roland Garros. The Indo-Australian pair, seeded 7th , open their campaign against the duo of Anastasia Rodionova and Santiago Gonzalez. They could face a possible clash against Mirza-Lindstedt in the quarter finals.
Bhupathi’s doubles partner, Rohan Bopanna, has teamed up with 17 year old Australian Ashleigh Barty. Incidentally, Ashleigh Barty is the women’s doubles partner of Casey Dellacqua. Bopanna-Barty will play their first match against the Czech combination of Lucie Hradecka and Frantisek Cermak.
Meanwhile, Leander Paes along with his Serbian partner Jelena Jankovic will open their mixed doubles campaign against Danielle Bracciali and Galina Voskoboeva.
