Schiavone reaches first final in 14 months
Francesca Schiavone is through to her first WTA Tour final in over a year after overcoming Johanna Larsson at the Copa Colsanitas.
The 2010 French Open champion's last final appearance was at the Rio Open in February last year, but she claimed a 7-5 6-4 success against third seed Larsson in Bogota on Friday.
She broke in the final game of the first set to take the lead and won four straight games to turn around a 4-2 deficit in the second and set up a meeting with Lara Arruabarrena.
Fourth seed Arruabarrena needed two hours and 10 minutes to battle past fellow Spaniard Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-2 4-6 6-4.
Arruabarrena will be looking to win the title for the second time, her first triumph on the WTA circuit having come at the same event five years ago.
And Arruabarrena should be full of confidence as she looks to make it three wins from three in WTA finals, having come from 4-0 down in the decider to surge to victory.
