Serena Williams cruises into Roland Garros quarters
World No.1 Serena Williams cruised into the French Open quarterfinals after hammering 15th seed Roberta Vinci, 6-1, 6-3.
The top seeded American extended her winning streak to 28 matches- her best ever – as well as improving her streak on clay to 20 matches. On her way to the win, she hit 30 winners past the Italian which included 5 aces. She faced only one break throughout the match.
Williams has only dropped 10 games in her 4 matches as she bids to claim her second French Open title, which she last won in 2002. However, she will have to beat 2009 winner Svetlana Kuznetsova in the quarters to earn her first berth in a French Open semifinal since 2003.
