WTA star and multiple Grand Slam winner Serena Williams was the first to announce her retirement, which was swiftly followed by Roger Federer hanging up his boots. Most recently, another of the all-time greats, Rafael Nadal, announced his retirement from professional tennis, leaving a big void in the sport.

Over the years, Serena Williams, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal have been the mainstays of tennis worldwide. The iconic trio won multiple Majors and dominated their respective eras. However, since their retirement, the three tennis icons have found other hobbies and embraced post-retirement life.

Serena Williams has built a business empire and started a family, while Roger Federer has continued to travel the world with his wife and kids. Meanwhile, the recently retired Rafael Nadal has spent his early retirement days playing golf. Here is an update on the lives of retired tennis stars in the second innings of their lives:

Serena Williams

Serena Williams announced her retirement from tennis after the US Open 2022. The American superstar won an incredible 23 Grand Slam singles titles and ended her career as one of the greatest players of all time. Since her retirement, Williams has built a business empire and started a family with her husband, Alexis Ohanian.

Serena Williams entered the world of cosmetics with WYN Beauty. The American claimed that she began working on the brand during Covid and the process accelerated since her retirement. Williams has since launched more than 10 products for the Wyn beauty.

Serena Williams has always been an advocate for beauty in tennis and carried herself with grace on the court. Since her retirement, Williams has entered the beauty business and is thriving as an entrepreneur.

Roger Federer

Roger Federer is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. The Swiss maestro announced an end to a glittering career at the 2022 Laver Cup in London. Federer ended his career with 20 Grand Slam titles to his name, having dominated for almost two decades.

During his retirement, Federer announced that he would continue to travel the world and spend time with his family during the second innings of his career.

"I have my foundation, I'm a dad, number one, and a husband so I want to spend loads of time with them as well. But then I will never stop travelling, I always want to be active, always ready to explore new things," Federer said.

The former World No. 1 has done exactly that and continued to travel across the globe. The Swiss star has promoted tennis in Africa in the past and recently made a trip to China, before arriving in Berlin for the Laver Cup 2024. Federer further announced his dream of traveling across the globe with his kids.

"People don't know this about me, but I love road trips. It's a dream that when I retire, and my kids are a little older, I'll embark on these types of trips myself, not just in Western Australia but worldwide," Roger Federer said in 2021.

Rafael Nadal

Rafael Nadal is the latest tennis star to hang up his racquet. The Spaniard played his last competitive match at the Davis Cup clash against the Netherlands in Malaga. Nadal ended his career with 22 Grand Slam titles, an Olympic gold medal, and multiple other accolades to his name.

Since his retirement, Nadal has found a new hobby in golf. The Spanish star had always liked the sport but has taken it more seriously since his tennis retirement. Shortly after his retirement, Nadal took to the golf course and took part in the Q-Romia Hexagonal Circuit tournament.

In early 2024, Nadal was crowned the champion at the 2024 Nations Cup, an amateur tournament in his hometown of Mallorca. Now, with Nadal retired from tennis, the Spaniard can enjoy more time on the golf course and take the sport more seriously.
