SRK congratulates Sania Mirza on her achievement
Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan today congratulated Indian Tennis sensation Sania Mirza on her achievement of breaking into the top 5 of the women’s doubles rankings.
27 year old Sania has broken into the top 5 for the very first time in his career and she achieved this feat despite crashing out in the second round at Wimbledon and in the quarterfinals at the French Open last month.
Sania tweeted her happiness at being ranked at number 5 for the very first time in her career, and Shahrukh who was in Chennai recently to attend an awards ceremony congratulated her in a reply which was retweeted by Sania to her followers.

Her Zimbabwean partner Cara Black is ranked at number 10 and their sights will firmly be on the US Open where they will be looking to be make amends after the disappointment in the last two slams.
"It’s been a long hard journey since my comeback to tennis from my third surgery when my career seemed to be over.. It is a very satisfying feeling to have bounced back from those despairing times and to be ranked in the top-5 of the world today," Sania said expressing her delight.
Her father Imran Mirza who also happens to be her coach was elated and said , "I've always believed Sania had the potential to be a top-5 player. I'm happy she has overcome heavy odds to justify her promise."
Rankings of other notable Indian players
While there was good news for Sania, the same cannot be said for the rest of the Indian contingent though as Ankita still remains the highest ranked singles player at 285. And in the ATP rankings, Somdev has dropped a few spots and is currently ranked 135th. Leander Paes remains the highest ranked Indian in the doubles section at number 13.
Sania will also be playing for the Mumbai franchise in the inaugural edition of the IPTL at the end of the year.
