Grigor Dimitrov vs Dominic Stricker preview
Third seed Grigor Dimitrov will face Dominic Stricker in the quarterfinals of the Stockholm Open 2024 on Friday (October 18).
Dimitrov received a bye into the second round, where he was up against Quentin Halys. The latter went up a break in the fourth game of the opening set, though the former struck back immediately to remain right on his tail.
Dimitrov later dug himself out of another hole by saving three set points on his own serve in the 10th game of the set. He managed to push the set to a tie-break, in which he easily outplayed Halys to take the set. The two kept up with each other for the better part of the second set, until the Bulgarian pulled ahead. He swept the last three games of the match for a 7-6 (1), 6-3 win.
Stricker secured a 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win over Aleksandar Kovacevic to set up a second-round date with former Wimbledon runner-up Matteo Berrettini. Neither player conceded any ground on serve in the first set, which led to a tie-break.
Stricker trailed 5-2 in it but turned the tables on Berrettini. The Swiss youngster saved two set points and went on to claim the set. He needed only one break of serve in the second set to get the job done and broke his opponent's serve in the 10th game to register a 7-6 (6), 6-4 victory.

Grigor Dimitrov vs Dominic Stricker prediction
Stricker scored the best win of his comeback, and the third of the year, by beating Berrettini, and has advanced to his first quarterfinal of the season. He hit 28 winners against 30 unforced errors in the previous round and won 71 percent of points on the back of his first serve.
After a tough first set, Dimitrov played with more intent to get the better of Halys. He struck 34 winners compared to 28 unforced errors throughout his win. It was also his 41st win of the season, and he improved his record to 18-8 in Stockholm.
Stricker does have a couple of top-10 wins under his belt, though this will be his first match against one this year. He's slowly working towards regaining his past form since his return to the tour in June.
However, Dimitrov could prove to be a tough nut for Stricker to crack at the moment. He is also unbeaten against players ranked outside the top 100 this year, and as such will be expected to maintain that streak against the Swiss youngster as well.
Pick: Grigor Dimitrov to win in straight sets.
