Grigor Dimitrov vs Quentin Halys preview
After a first-round bye, third seed Grigor Dimitrov will take on Quentin Halys in the second round of the Stockholm Open 2024.
Dimitrov won the Brisbane International at the start of the season, his first title since the ATP Finals 2017. He also finished as the runner-up in Marseille and Miami. He advanced to the quarterfinals of the French Open and the US Open and was eliminated in the fourth round of Wimbledon.
The Bulgarian's other notable results this season include fourth-round appearances at the Indian Wells Masters and the Italian Open. He also made the semifinals in Rotterdam.
Dimitrov's Asian swing was rather brief as he competed only in the Shanghai Masters. He reached the fourth round with wins over Zizou Bergs and Alexei Popyrin before losing to Jakub Mensik.
Halys kicked off his campaign here against Sumit Nagal. The Frenchman cruised through the first set as he claimed it without conceding a single game in it. The second set was more competitive, though a lone break of serve in his favor helped him complete a comfortable 6-0, 6-4 win.
Grigor Dimitrov vs Quentin Halys head-to-head
This will be the first career meeting between the two, so the head-to-head stands at 0-0 for now.

Grigor Dimitrov vs Quentin Halys prediction
Halys was ranked outside the top 200 in July, and entered the top 100 this week at No. 95. A runner-up finish in Gstaad, along with two finals at the Challenger level, including one a couple of weeks ago, made it possible. His win over Nagal was his ninth at the ATP level.
Dimitrov, meanwhile, has registered 40 wins this year against 15 losses. He has a 28-9 record on hardcourts, and has a 22-4 record against players ranked outside the top 50 this season.
Halys, on the other hand, has a 1-11 career record against top-20 opposition. His only win came last year against Alex de Minaur at the Miami Open. He came quite close to securing his second win at Wimbledon this year but let go of a two-set lead against Holger Rune to lose in five sets.
Dimitrov won his maiden career title here back in 2013. He reached another couple of finals over the years and lost to Tomas Berdych in 2014 and Juan Martin del Potro in 2017.
Dimitrov also has a 7-1 record against players from France this year. His results this season, his prior history in Stockholm, along his positive record against lower-ranked players, all point toward his victory over Halys.
Pick: Grigor Dimitrov to win in straight sets.
