Andrey Rublev vs Alejandro Tabilo preview
Andrey Rublev, the top seed at the 2024 Swiss Indoors, will look to keep his campaign alive when he takes on Chilean opponent Alejandro Tabilo in the second round. Rublev has a 41-21 record in 2024, with two titles in Hong Kong and Madrid—the World No. 7 entered the event in Basel after a 6-7 (5), 6-7 (5) quarterfinal loss against Stan Wawrinka in the Stockholm Open.
Rublev has done well on both hard and clay courts. On the former, he reached the final of the Canadian Open, the quarterfinal of the Australian Open and the Cincinnati Open, and a decent fourth-round run at the US Open. At the Swiss Indoors, being the top seed, the Russian started his campaign with a dominant 6-3, 6-2 win over Nuno Borges in the first round.
Alejandro Tabilo has a 31-26 record in 2024, with two title runs in Auckland (hard courts) and in Mallorca (grass courts.). The Chilean has had some good clay-court results as well, reaching the final of the Chile Open and the semifinals of the Tiriac Open and the Italian Open.
Aside from the win at the ASB Classic, Tabilo has not done well on hard courts that well. The Chilean's overall form has taken a substantial dip after the Canadian Open, as he entered the Basel event with a 2-8 record in his previous 10 matches. Tabilo started his campaign at the Swiss Indoors with a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2), over Marin Cilic.

Andrey Rublev vs Alejandro Tabilo prediction
Rublev has a 26-11 record on hard courts and a 4-2 record on indoor hard courts in 2024. The Russian has reached two hard-court finals in the year, which takes his overall tally of hard-court finals to 15, with the Russian winning 10 titles on the surface. He remains one of two players to hand out a hard-court defeat to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in 2024.
Even though 2024 has been a breakout season for Tabilo, who has reached three finals in the season, the hard court record for the Chilean is a mediocre 13-8 for the season. Also in recent matches, such as in his match against Tommy Paul in Shanghai and against Grigior Diitrov at the Laver Cup, the World No. 21 gave away healthy leads in the match to concede defeats.
The current streak of form of both players gives the advantage to Rublev to win the match.
