Tennis: Bolt and Sanchez Vicario to present French Open cups
Jamaican sprint king Usain Bolt will present the Coupe des Mousquetaires to the winner of the men’s singles title at the French Open on Saturday, the French Tennis Federation announced on Thursday.
The six-time Olympic champion, who will open his European season on Thursday at the Diamond League meeting in Rome, will be the first track and field star to have the honour.
The men’s semi-finals take place on Friday with defending champion Rafael Nadal taking on top seed Novak Djokovic, followed by home hope Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against David Ferrer.
The Coupe Suzanne Lenglen, which goes to the winner of the women’s title on Saturday, will be presented by three-time champion at Roland Garros and former world number one, Arantxa Sanchez Vicario of Spain.
The final will oppose the tournament’s two top seeds, Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova.
