Australian doubles sensation Ellen Perez addressed concerns from fans on social media regarding the 2024 WTA Finals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, scheduled to take place on November 2. Many had expressed disappointment over the absence of a gala for this year’s event.
Perez, who is competing in doubles at the tournament, took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to clarify that there will be a dinner on Thursday, October 31, followed by a gala.
"Yea, on Thursday, we have a photo shoot during the day, and then how I understand it a more relaxed gala dinner," she wrote.
"Well the photo shoot we are doing in dresses. The dinner I’m not sure if anyone will continue to wear there dresses or not. It’s a few hours later after the photo shoot so it would make sense people go back to hotel and change," she added.
Grigor Dimitrov says he desperately wants to play in ATP Finals 2024
Grigor Dimitrov expressed that he would be willing to sacrifice a lot to compete at the ATP Finals this year, as he feels confident in his ability to perform well. His comments followed his victory over Tomas Martin Etcheverry in the second round of the ongoing Paris Masters.
"I’d probably give a lot to be in Italy. I don’t wanna lie. My approach to things is a bit different than many years ago," the Bulgarian said during his on-court interview.
"I’m in a place where I’m still a contender. I’m still there. I’m still fighting against the best players in the world. I’m beating the younger guys still. This gives me confidence and makes me happy as well. If you ask me if I wanna be there… yeah, absolutely," he added further.
Dimitrov is currently ranked 10th in the ATP Live Race to Turin, Italy, trailing Alex de Minaur in ninth place by 405 points. The 33-year-old has a chance to move into a qualifying position if he reaches the final in Paris.
