Frances Tiafoe slapped with a heavy fine for his Shanghai Masters antics

Frances Tiafoe is set to be fined $120,000 for his on-court outfit at the Shanghai Masters. The American star was involved in a war of words with the chair umpire Jimmy Pinoargote during his third-round exit from Shanghai.

Frances Tiafoe faced Safiullin at the Shanghai Masters and lost his composure in a tightly contested match. During the third set tie-break, the American was docked a first serve at 5-5 due to a time violation. Tiafoe ended up losing the match before launching an attack on the referee.

"F**k you, man! F**k you! Seriously, man. You f**ked me out of the f***ing match."

According to Eurosport, Tiafoe has been fined $60,000 for 'verbal abuse in Shanghai', while the other $60,000 is for 'aggravated behaviour'. The American has escaped a suspension and will just be fined for his Shanghai outburst.

Tennis journalist shocked by the odd ATP Finals scheduling before the final round robins matches

Tennis journalist Jose Morgado has revealed his shock at the odd scheduling at the ATP Finals. The final round-robin match at the ATP Finals features Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Casper Ruud, and Andrey Rublev.

Alexander Zverev is in the best position to qualify from the group as the German has won both his matches. Carlos Alcaraz and Casper Ruud are the other two players fighting for the number two spot. Interestingly, Andrey Rublev has a small chance of qualifying despite losing both of his matches.

However, with Alcaraz set to face Zverev in the first match, the Ruud-Rublev contest could be a dead rubber with nothing to play for Rublev. Tennis journalist Jose Morgado noted that if Ruud-Rublev had been the first game on the schedule, the Zverev-Alcaraz match would have been a 'live rubber' match with something to play for both players.

"Very surprising Friday schedule in Turin... If they scheduled Ruud vs. Rublev first, the second match would be a live rubber for both players... Now, if Alcaraz defeats Zverev at 2pm, that second match would only matter for Ruud, who will have his scenarios very clear," Morgado wrote on X.
