Tennis not my number 1 priority- Novak Djokovic

Top seed and world number one Novak Djokovic heads into the US Open as a firm favourite. While his form of late has not been at the highest level, the Serb has valuable tools of experience, determination and stamina to win his eigth Grand Slam title. 

On 10th July 2014, Djokovic married his long-time girlfriend Jelena Ristic and shortly announced that the couple were expecting their first child. The inevitable question put forth was how much of an impact it would have on his tennis career. Djokovic admitted that fatherhood will take the focus in the coming years. “I’m going to enjoy it and try to take as much of energy as I can and transfer that to the tennis court.”

“But without a doubt, life changes. You know, priorities change. My priorities, my family, my wife, my future kid. Tennis is definitely not number 1 anymore,” he said.

The Djoker known for his consistence displays of the ‘funny side’ of the game has the ability to catch his opponents off guard with daring shots, especially during losing positions. Djokovic’s game and humour adds colour to the sport recently the Serb imitated Rafael Nadal during a charity event.

How much of his focus shifts from tennis to parenting remains to be seen. But tennis fans should not be worried, because once the world number one is on the tennis court, he has never given anything short of 100 percent. Here are some of his best moments so far and we are hoping to see many more in the coming years.
