VIDEO: The tennis racquet that sounds like Maria Sharapova

Maria Sharapova’s grunts and screams on court are the stuff of legend. She’s been made into memes, jokes and been the subject of several hilarious videos. The sound she makes on court is even louder than that of her more powerful competitor Serena Williams, and spectators have complained of the immense noise the Russian former No. 1 makes on court.

Now, a Japanese engineer named Seiya Kobayashi has invented a tennis racquet that when swung, sounds exactly like the famous ‘Pova’ grunting on court.

Kobayashi, a tennis enthusiast, built his own processor and adapted it to fit his own Wilson racquet, building the processor to the width of his grip.

He began developing the project last year, and says the product is developed and adapted to the “four big grunters” in the sport – Serena Williams, Sharapova, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic.

Each of the former World No. 1s has one other big thing in common; they aren’t just raising the bar for tennis, but the decibel levels on every court they play.
