Tennis star Sania Mirza shows off her funny side on 'Comedy Nights with Kapil'

Indian tennis player Sania Mirza was recently a guest on ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’, and while on the show she tackled questions from the audience and host Kapil with some very elegant strokes that were both witty and quirky.

Sania, in fact, did a very good job of imitating ‘Gutthi’, an erstwhile popular character on the show played by Sunil Grover. She was absolutely spot-on with the act, right from the introduction to even singing the character’s favourite song.

Sania, who is married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, also fielded questions about her husband and his nationality with aplomb. When asked by Manju, one of the regular characters on the show, whether Shoaib ever behaved as rudely with her as Kapil was on the show, Sania replied, “Aise baat karenge toh wapas na bhejdun mai unko” (If he talks to me this way, I would send him back).”

The inevitable question about who she cheers for during India-Pakistan matches came up later in the show, and Sania knocked that out of the park too with this little gem: “Mere bande ko 50-100 bana lene do, lekin match toh India hi jeetna chahiye.”

Spontaneous, witty, charming and confident – Sania Mirza pulled out all the stops in her never-seen-before act. Who knows – perhaps a career on the silver screen beckons for the talented Ms. Mirza!
