Top seed Serena Williams of the US breezed into the quarterfinals at the Cincinnati Masters tennis tournament.

The current World No.1 defeated Mona Barthel from Germany 6-4, 6-1 Thursday, reports Xinhua.

Williams will meet Romanian Simona Halep in the quarterfinals Friday night.
