IPTL Season 2: The UAE Royals are all set to win again!
Asia's very own and biggest tennis league has finally arrived, much to the delight of excited tennis fans who have been dying to have their own tennis league – the International Premier Tennis League. The biggest tennis players of the world will come together on one common platform, join forces and take each other on. The best of the best will clash in a contest, the likes of which has never been seen before.
The four teams of the inaugural season will be returning to battle it out in the league, including the UAE Royals, the Philippine Mavericks, the Singapore Slammers and the Indian Aces, but this year's tournament will also see another team joining the competition. The Japan Warriors, who will be led by Maria Sharapova and supported by Kei Nishikori, will also be competing for a spot in the finals.
The IPTL, which was created by Indian tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi, will see tennis players from across the globe, in a novel sporting property, that has been modeled after other leagues like the Indian Premier League and the Pro Kabaddi League. The league will also see a part of the tournament being played in New Delhi, with tennis fans flocking to the capital just to get a glimpse of their favourite tennis stars.
Some of the bigwigs coming to the IPTL Delhi include Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Maria Sharapova, Sania Mirza, Serena Williams and many more. The much-awaited tennis fiesta will also see some other popular and successful tennis players square off against each other, including Maria Sharapova and Leander Paes for the Japan Warriors, Roger Federer for the UAE Royals, Serena Williams for the Mavericks, Rafael Nadal for the Indian Aces and Novak Djokovic for the Slammers.
The UAE Royals, who have been a strong presence in the last league season have one of the strongest sides, with Roger Federer leading the squad. Apart from the god of modern tennis, they also have Marin Cilic, who is the current US Open Champion, the extremely talented Tomas Berdych, Canadian genius Daniel Nestor, Grand Slam winner Goran Ivanisevic and more. Among the females, there is the talented and fierce Ana Ivanovic, who returns to the IPTL once more, and Kristina Mladenovic, who should gel well with Ivanovic.
The biggest strength of the Royals will always remain Federer, who will be their backbone, in terms of the support he can offer other players. However, he will face tough competition from the other teams as well, especially players like Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, among others.
