Grigor Dimitrov vs Kyrian Jacquet preview
Ninth-seeded Grigor Dimitrov will start his campaign at the 2024 US Open by taking on French qualifier Kyrian Jacquet in the first round. Dimitrov has been in good form in 2024, winning the Brisbane International and making the final of the Miami Open before losing to Jannik Sinner.
However, since the Bulgarian retired in his match against Daniil Medvedev at Wimbledon, his form has dipped slightly. On his comeback trail, the World No. 9 has not fared well, losing in the third round at the Canadian Open to Alexei Popyrin and in the first round at the Cincinnati Open to Fabian Marozsan.
On the other hand, Kyrian Jacquet has yet to play a tour-level match in his career. The Frenchman has been playing in the Challenger events, reaching the final of the challenger in Salzburg on clay.
The 2024 US Open will be the first time Jacquet will be playing at a Grand Slam main draw. He won against Tim Van Rijthoven in the opening round of qualifying in straight sets. The Frenchman then faced off against Hong Seong-chan in the second round, winning in three sets. In the final round of qualifying, Jacquet defeated Jurij Rodionov of Austria in straight sets to make it to the main draw.
Grigor Dimitrov vs Kyrian Jacquet head-to-head
Since this is Jacquet's first tour-level match, the head-to-head is 0-0.

Grigor Dimitrov vs Kyrian Jacquet prediction
Dimitrov's seven out of the nine career titles have come on a hard course, with the last of them being at the Brisbane International earlier this year. The former World No.3 has 16 hard-court finals in his career. However, the US Open has been his least successful Major, as he has won only 57 percent of the matches, with a semi-final run in 2019 being his best performance.
This is going to be Jacquet's first tour-level match. The Frenchman is not used to playing on such a big stage and against such quality opposition. From his perspective, this match will be an enriching experience as a tennis professional in the future.
The ninth seed is the overwhelming favorite despite not being in great form in recent weeks, and should be able advance to the next round without much trouble.
