Last year's semi-finalist Karolina Muchova is all set to take on 22nd seed Beatriz Haddad Maia in the quarter-final of the 2024 US Open on Wednesday, September 4.
Muchova had a decent 2023 season, reaching the final of the French Open and making it to the last four in New York. However, she had undergone a lengthy injury layoff which saw her miss the rest of the 2023 and the first half of the 2024 seasons.
The former World No. 8 is yet to drop a set at Flushing Meadows this year. She started her campaign by defeating local favorite Katie Volynets in the first round. In the next round, the Czech player downed former US Open champion Naomi Osaka in straight sets.

Beatriz Haddad Maia has performed well at the 2024 US Open. The Brazilian opened her campaign with a win over Elina Avanesyan after dropping the first set in the first round. She then secured a comfortable straight-set victory over Sara Sorribes Tormo in the second round.
Haddad Maia caused an upset in the third round, winning 6-3, 6-3 against 15th-seeded Anna Kalinskaya. In the fourth round, she faced off against former World No.1 Caroline Wozniacki. In a match full of ebb and flow, she won 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to reach her second Major quarter-final.
