Video: Murray and Stephens happy with US Open progress
Late player reaction on day three of the US Open at Flushing Meadows in New York on Wednesday (28th August).
Andy Murray, beat Michael Llodra 6-2, 6-4, 6-3:
(Q: this was just the match you were expecting of Llodra?)
“Yeah, it was a good match. The rallies were, you know, quick, sharp. Wasn’t much time between points. He was playing quickly on his elves in between points. It was a fairly, I thought, high-standard match. Lots of reactions and drop-shots and definitely testd my movements today. I nought I moved well. I didn’t make to many errors. It was a solid match.”
Andy Murray, beat Michael Llodra 6-2, 6-4, 6-3:
(Q. What was it like being announced as a Grand Slam champion when you walked on the court?)
“It was nice. I mean, it was more kind of going back onto that court again for me was the nicest part about it because, you know, obviously I have great memories here from last year. And I said on the court after the match, I didn’t necessarily feel like I had much time to enjoy last year because I was so relieved. I was also a little bit in disbelief, as well. To actually be out there and play a night match in front of a big crowd was really nice. I performed well. It was good.”
Sloane Stephens, beat Urszula Radwanska 6-1, 6-1:
(Q. Good feeling to drop a couple of breadsticks on Radwanska?)
“I was kind of nervous playing her. She plays a lot like her sister. They’re tough to play I lost to her at the beginning of the year. Completely different mindset now. I knew I had to come out and be aggressive and make a lot of balls and she’s going to make me play. I thought to myself, I’m going to go out there and do my best. I came it with a really good attitude and I think I it showed.”
