Video: Roger Federer through to next round at Gerry Weber Open

Fourth seed Kei Nishikori of Japan was dumped out of the Gerry Weber Open in the second round by Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny on Wednesday, while top seed Roger Federer, Gael Monfils and wild card Mischa Zverev progressed to the third round.

German wild card Mischa Zverev came from behind in both sets against Bosnia’s Mirza Basic to win his place in the fourth round at the Gerry Perry Open.

Basic squandered a 4-1 lead in the first set and a 2-1 break lead in the second.

It allowed Zverev to close out a 7-6, 6-3 victory with an ace.

Later in the day, top seed Roger Federer looked a little rusty on his way to victory over another German wild card – Cedrik-Marcel Stebe.

Now ranked three in the world, Federer has not won a title this year and came into the tournamen following a quarter-final loss at the French Open.

Despite committing a double fault on his first match point, he hit a volley winner to win 6-3, 6-3 for a place in the quarter-finals.
