You have seen Benedict Cumberbatch as the inimitable Sherlock Holmes solving mysteries one after the other in the much-loved tv series, Sherlock. You have been mesmerized by his Oscar-nominated performance as the mathematical genius, Alan Turing in the film, The Imitation Game.

But can you imagine him stealing a trophy and that too from someone like Roger Federer? Wait, what?

Yes, that is exactly what happened in a fun video released by the official Twitter account of laureus.com!

Federer was honoured with the ‘Sportsman of the Year’ and the ‘Comeback of the Year’ awards at the Laureus World Sports Awards 2018 held in Monaco on Tuesday where Cumberbatch hosted the ceremony. With these latest two trophies, Federer’s total haul from Laureus went up to a whopping six, making him the most decorated Laureus Award winner.

In the video, the two are shown in the morning after the gala. While the World No. 1 is busy reading the morning paper, the table in front of him is embellished with his six trophies. The British actor comes in and looks at them longingly before inviting the Swiss maestro for a game of table tennis, which the 20-time Grand Slam champion accepts.

Cumberbatch already had the two bats and a ball with him but they were short of a net. Roger had an ingenious idea that turned out to be a remarkable substitute.

He lined up all his six Laureus trophies in the middle of the table, which made up for the absence of the net.

While they were playing, the cunning Cumberbatch used all his power to push the ball out of the table into a corner. With Roger’s back turned to his precious prizes, the actor grabbed one of them in a flash, chuckling to the camera, “Always wanted one of these!” before running off.
